Meet Our Founders

John Tastinger: Co-Founder

A native of Western North Carolina, John Tastinger brings a deep passion for basketball and player development to everything he does. A former collegiate hooper, John understands firsthand the dedication and discipline it takes to compete at the next level—and he’s made it his mission to help others do the same.

John is the founder and owner of JTrain2 LLC, where he specializes in player development, strength and conditioning, and long-term athletic performance. His holistic approach focuses not just on building better athletes, but on sustaining peak performance through every stage of a player’s journey.

In addition to his work with JTrain2, John serves as the Head Coach for Wildcat Select NXT Gen, where he mentors and leads emerging talent with a focus on skill, character, and competitive excellence.

With years of experience both on and off the court, John is driven by a commitment to giving athletes the tools, exposure, and support they need to thrive at the collegiate level and beyond.

Chris Barrish: Co-Founder

Hailing from Southwestern Pennsylvania, Chris Barrish is a former collegiate hooper turned visionary entrepreneur and multimedia specialist. With a lifelong love for the game and a sharp eye for storytelling, Chris is dedicated to creating platforms that spotlight rising basketball talent.

He is the founder and owner of Takeover Visions, a media company focused on capturing the intensity, passion, and skill of the basketball world through high-impact visuals and storytelling. His work bridges the gap between athletes and opportunity, helping players gain exposure and recognition in an increasingly competitive landscape.

Chris also brings his multimedia expertise to KDKA Radio and Caveman Basketball, where he produces dynamic content that connects fans, athletes, and programs on a deeper level.

With his unique blend of basketball experience and media savvy, Chris is committed to elevating the voices and journeys of student-athletes—helping them be seen, heard, and recruited.

Ben Roberts: Co-Founder

Originally from just outside Charlotte, North Carolina, Ben Roberts brings a wealth of knowledge, passion, and leadership to the court with a decade of experience in coaching and player development. As a dedicated mentor to young athletes, Ben has served as an assistant coach at three collegiate programs—Randolph College, University of Rio Grande, and Waynesburg University—where he helped shape teams and guide players toward their full potential.

Ben holds a Master’s degree in Coaching and Sport Leadership, equipping him with both the practical and strategic tools to support athletes at every level. Over the past 10 years, he has worked extensively with youth basketball programs and AAU teams, making a lasting impact on hundreds of aspiring players through coaching and skill development.

In addition to his collegiate and AAU experience, Ben serves as a skills trainer and coordinator for JTrain’s 3v3 League, where he continues to develop talent with a focus on fundamentals, IQ, and long-term growth.

Ben’s commitment to excellence and his ability to connect with players make him a driving force in creating opportunities for young athletes to reach the collegiate level and beyond.
